You have probably heard that crystals, agates and other gemstones have useful purposes in the practice of magic. It is not so commonly know, that the shape of a stone also carries a lot of power. Stones found in nature, shaped by earth and water are always more powerful than artificially shaped stones bought in a store. The exception to this being, stones you shape yourself for a specific magical purpose.
Round stones magnetize and attract. They can be used in love and money spells. At the waxing moon, place some money in a jar with a round stone. The round stone will help money attract more money. Attract love at a new moon in Libra. Place a round stone in a jar with a description of your ideal mate.
Square shaped stones are filled with Earth power. They can be used in any kind of earth spells. They will also help focus you. If too many distractions are keeping you from finishing a project, or studying for an exam, place a square stone in your working area. It will help ground you.
Heart shaped stones attract and stimulate love. Carry them to attract love into your life, and to amplify the love within you. Charge a heart shaped stone at the full moon and give it to the one you love to invoke affections.
Egg shaped stones stimulate creativity and fertility. Creative artists of all kinds can keep these stones around to keep fresh ideas flowing. A stone in the purse or on the dresser of a woman can help to increase chances of pregnancy. Egg shaped stones around trees promote fruit.
Holed stones, or stones with naturally occurring holes in them hold a great deal of protection power within. Carry them on your person or keep them in your working area to repel negative energy. Put them in a child's room to ward off nightmares and uninvited spirits. Placed by the front of the house, they keep away unwanted guests and intruders.

Before you charge a stone with your magical purpose, be sure to cleanse it. Place it in a bowl of salted water, and put it out in the open air in full sun for an entire day.
Charge a stone by holding it in your dominant hand. Visualize your magical purpose and 'see' the energy flow into the stone.
